How to Make a Paper Ninja Star/Shuriken

I show how to make a paper throwing star/shuriken. It is an easy model to make but when folding try to make the edges as straight as possible for best results. It can be made from any type of paper regular printer paper and magazine paper works well. Two different colours of paper can give it a more interesting look. The origami ninja star/shuriken is fun and easy to fold, its weight, form and shape is evenly balanced all around which makes it excellent for throwing. Be careful when throwing it because the corners are pointy and sometimes the flight path is unpredictable.
A shuriken is a traditional Japanese concealed weapon that was generally used for throwing, and some stabbing and slashing. Shuriken are commonly known in the West as throwing stars or ninja stars although they were originally designed in many different shapes.

How to Make a Paper Lily

I show how to make an origami paper lily. Although it looks somewhat complicated it is actually fairly straightforward. It is an easy model to make but when folding try to make the edges as straight as possible for best results. They can be used as a decoration, part of a table centerpiece of used in gift packaging and craft work. With a couple of the lilies you can add stems and arrange them in a flower pot for a pretty floral decoration. Stems can be made by rolling a piece of green or white paper into a thin tube and taping it around then taping it to the bottom of the lily. The stem can then be bent and manipulated as desired.

How to Make a Paper Masu Box

I show how to make a paper origami box; this particular box is called a “Masu Box”. It is a traditional origami box and is the most common origami box around. You can make it from origami paper for best results or just from any paper available. It is simple to make, functional and it looks nice. All you need is a piece of square paper. The box makes a great place to store small items and with a pair, you can use one box as a lid to make the box sealed. Or if you want the lid to fit smoother make the second box slightly bigger. This is an easy origami model to make for beginners.
A long time ago, a masu box was a wooden box used to measure rice. Later, a similar square, wooden box was used to drink sake. In the origami world, a masu box is a traditional, square shaped box made of paper. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Masu_%28measurement%29

How to Make a Paper Crane

I show how to make a paper crane, it is pretty easy to make and it is a design that’s considered the most classic of all Japanese origami. It is often used as a ceremonial wrapper or restaurant decoration. This simple craft only requires a piece of paper and to follow the steps presented in the video. A thousand paper cranes strung together is called “senbazuru” meaning "thousand cranes". It is a representation of the Japanese Red-crowned Crane which has a special significance in Japanese culture.
An ancient Japanese legend promises that anyone who folds a thousand origami cranes will be granted a wish by a crane. Some stories believe you are granted eternal good luck, instead of just one wish, such as long life or recovery from illness or injury. This makes them popular gifts for special friends and family. The crane in Japan is one of the mystical or holy creatures (others include the dragon and the tortoise) and is said to live for a thousand years: That is why 1000 cranes are made, one for each year. In some stories it is believed that the 1000 cranes must be completed within one year and they must all be made by the person who is to make the wish at the end. Cranes that are made by that person and given away to another aren't included: All cranes must be kept by the person wishing at the end. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thousand_origami_cranes

How to Make a Paper Cup

I show how to make a basic paper cup. It is easy to make but when folding try to make the edges as straight as possible for best results. The origami cup is a traditional and popular design. If you make it with a plastic coated or grease proof paper you can actually use it to retain water and not have the water taste like paper. If you don’t have any water resistant paper you can use thicker paper or double the paper up. It can be useful for holding small objects or snacks.

How to Make a Paper Boat

I show how to make a traditional origami paper boat. It is an easy model to make but when folding try to make the edges as straight as possible for best results. It is a fun model to make because it is very simple and will actually float on water. To make the boat last longer in water, try using a wax/grease proof paper, add some tape on the bottom, or use a thicker paper. Use a rectangle piece of paper, a sheet of A4 printer paper works great for this.
